moved to Chemnitz where my father found work as a civil engineer

final examination at the Goethe-Gymnasium, Chemnitz

certificate of apprenticeship as a bricklayer

Oktober 6 - entered the noviciate of the Society of Jesu
in Erfurt-Hochheim

1962 - 1969

studied philosophy and theology in Erfurt

June 28 - ordination

chaplain at St. Bonifatius, Erfurt-Hochheim

1971 - 1974

chaplain at St. Petrus, Dresden-Strehlen

1975

tertianship (additional to the two years noviciate at the beginning a Jesuit has to go through a third year of probation - normally after his studies and some years of pastoral work - before he will take his final vows) in Berlin-Biesdorf/Süd

1975 - 1990

pastor at Sacred Heart Jesu, Berlin-Biesdorf/Süd; and on top of that from 1978 - 1990 Regional Superior of the Jesuits in the former GDR
